What makes tutoring effective?
When taking difficult subjects like Algebra and Chemistry, it can be easy to get discouraged. Teachers are required to cover a large amount of material every semester, so they fly through a lot of concepts too quickly for many students to grasp.

Fortunately, 1-on-1 tutoring can can bridge the gaps left by classroom instruction. We can solidify learning and help connect concepts together into mental maps so the information is more accessible to students. Our patient tutors don't just explain things and move on, we constantly check for understanding and explain things as many times as a students needs to hear it.

As experienced, professional tutors, we understand how math and science classes build from grade to grade, so we can not only reinforce skills from previous classes, but also build strong foundations for the future. We understand why a particular math problem is important, and for many students finding value in math can remove barriers to learning.
How are teaching and tutoring different?
Tutoring and teaching are interrelated, but there is a key difference that makes tutoring time valuable. Teachers work within an administration that establishes what they must teach, so they walk into the classroom focused on a curriculum agenda. Our tutors walk into a session focused on one thing: The Student

Everything we do in a session is focused on what that unique student needs.
What about math anxiety?
Our tutors are comfortable with math. As we work with a student, we are always trying to reduce math stress and build confidence. As we work, we ask extra questions and review to build retention, to try and avoid the mind going blank on the test moments. We hone in on what is really important so students feel less overwhelmed, and we build speed on intermediate steps so the whole problem feels like less work.

Our goal is not just to help students complete math problems, but rather to help students build their math skills so they can feel confident tackling any type of math.
